Around the farm

At the left - Andrew Hounshell, Gary Hounshell Jr, Jacki Stuppy and Zach Hounshell in front of the Rose bushes at the State Fair. As you can see they really wanted to have their pic taken. This was taken right before they went to change clothes to give their speeches about what they learned curing country hams.
To the right is all of the non- smoked hams at the fair. There was over 400 hams total (including smoked hams, didn't get a pic of those) at the fair this year. Each ham was divided between smoked and non-smoked, then again into the different years the child was born. Andrew won a Blue ribbon for his ham, Gary Jr won a Red ribbon for his and Zach also won a Red ribbon for his. All of the children there did a great job procesing their hams, all the hams looked and smelled wonderful!
We just got the results from the speech part of the Country Ham Projects at the State Fair. Zach recieved a Red Ribbon , Gary Jr. recieved a Blue Ribbon and Andrew also got a Blue Ribbon. Great Job Boys!!!!

Everyone ready for another round of "Ring around the Pond?"

This is the trailer we purchased this year to make going to shows a lot easier. No more loading and unloading the truck several times a week. We where lucky to find what we was looking for with a dressing/sleeping area. This is her Before pic, and will post After pics as soon as it's warm enough to have her painted, Red and Black.

Right: : The trailer sanded down, taped off and almost ready to paint. Left: Gary finishing up putting the red on the trailer. The Black is next. (The date was wrong on my camera and I didn't catch it. 05/10/2010.)

And the Black finally goes on....... Can't wait for her to dry so we can pull off all of the tape and paper, finally getting to see her finished. Finally Finished!!
Hounshell farm was pleased to help the Hospice care of the Bluegrass with their "Got your Goat?" Fund raiser. The current Mayor of Berea, Steven Connelly, was the winner of a beautiful Doeling, Ky Sweetheart. Mr. Connelly had purchased the insurance to make sure he did not have to take possession of the goat. A youth jazz group out of Lexington, BAJA (Bluegrass Area Jazz Assoc.) will be holding the next "Got your Goat?" fund raiser. Hounshell Farm will also be providing their goat for the winner. Please show your support for them as well.
